HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 22
(By Mr. Speaker, Mr. Kiss and Delegates
Staton, Martin, Ashley and Trump)
Recognizing the contributions of the West Virginia State Bar as
it celebrates its fifty year anniversary in May, 1997.
Whereas, Our country and our state are governed by a system
of laws which set out our rights and responsibilities as citizens
and the laws are interpreted by the legal system in our form of
democracy; and
Whereas, The officers of our system of justice are the men
and women who are members of our state's legal profession; and
Whereas, These lawyers give their expertise and experience
each day to their individual, corporate and governmental clients
in the myriad areas of the law including family law, business
law, criminal law, environmental law and many others; and
Whereas, All attorneys are required to be members of the West
Virginia State Bar which has as its mission to advance the
administration of justice and improve the legal services provided
to our people; and
Whereas, The West Virginia State Bar was formed in 1947 and
throughout the years has served the state's attorneys and
citizens in dealing with all the legal aspects of everyday life; and
Whereas, The West Virginia State Bar and its 3,700 active
practicing lawyer members will continue to give their leadership
to the men, women and children in the state to improve the
quality of life, both through legal work and volunteer
activities; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the West Virginia House of Delegates recognizes the
many contributions made by the West Virginia State Bar and the
members of the legal profession who have given their best efforts
over the past 50 years to benefit West Virginia and her citizens
as the West Virginia State Bar celebrates its 50 year anniversary
in May, 1997.
